Achterbahn der Gefühle bei der EM 2015

Gemischte Gefühle gab es bei der diesjährigen EM in Dänemark. Das Herrenteam erreichte nach einer 6:4 Finalniederlage gegen das Gastgeberteam aus Dänemark die Silbermedaille in der B-Gruppe und verpasste somit leider knapp die Chance Punkte für Olympia 2018 zu sammeln. Erfreulich ist jedoch, dass das Herrenteam wieder in die A-Gruppe aufgestiegen ist.
Dazu möchten wir vom Curling Club Traun den Spielern vom Kitzbüheler Curling Club herzlich gratulieren! Wir freuen uns sehr, dass Österreich bei den Herren wieder in der A-Gruppe verteten ist!

Bei den Damen „hat es nicht sein sollen“! Trotzdem starker Leistungen in der Round Robin fehlte in den wichtigen Entscheidungen immer das notwendige Quäntchen Glück und hätte es abschließend nur einen einzigen Sieg mehr gegeben, wäre der Klassenerhalt erreichet worden. Somit müssen Österreichs Damen nächstes Jahr erstmals in der C-Gruppe um den Wiederaufstieg kämpfen.
Großen Respekt haben sie unserer Meinung dadurch verdient, dass sie auch in schwierigen Zeit für den österreichischen Curling Verband zur Verfügung standen. Wie ÖCV intern bekannt, war nicht jede Kaderathletin bereit sich für die EM Zeit zu nehmen und gegen den Abstieg zu kämpfen. Umso stolzer erfüllt es unseren Trauner Club, dass unsere Mädels alles gegeben haben um das Schlimmste zu verhindern!

Leider ist die Chance, sowohl für das Herren- als auch für das Damenteam, dahin, Punkte für Olympiaqualifikation bei der WM 2016 zu sammeln. Eine Qualifikation für die olympischen Spiele 2018 ist somit kaum mehr möglich.
In der A-Gruppe holt Schweden den Titel bei den Herren und Russland den Titel bei den Damen. Unsere Gratulationen richten sich hierzu vor allem an den Ex-Choach der Trauner Herren Rodger Schmidt (derzeit Coach der russichen Damen). Er war noch vor ein paar Jahren Trainer in Österreich und führte im Jahr 2006 das Damenteam in die A-Gruppe.
